Here is an idea Paladiea

Sometimes it is better to let sleeping dogs lie, let the storm pass, so to speak, you know STFU, because your explanatory post about why the Progressive Bloggers Administrators should not be used to censure a misogynist or as you described the individual in question, a well intentioned ignoramus, somehow does not ring true to the events that have been previously described. I get it, you cannot become the thought police and one of the big deals around these parts is that any asshole can get up on their Soap Box and prattle on and on and on Hey their traffic’s going up and they have the right to listen to their own voice over and over and over again and no matter how many times they post these misogynistic like statements, we all know that it is due to their ignorance and not because they are a misogynist (if I read your post correctly). However what your post does not explain is why did Progressive Bloggers abruptly remove Dammit Janet from the blog roll, without allowing them to leave with the dignity they deserve. Talk about thought police, apparently just stating that you are planning to leave is enough to get you booted around these parts. Sorry Paladiea it is too late to take the high road with this debacle.

Thanks for this, Willy.

In a way, I'm glad this happened now. As we gear up for the battle against Woodworth's Wank, which is the first step in recriminalizing abortion in Canada, it's good to know who our friends really are.

Like you.

Fern, there are few things I regret as a so-called blogger and one of them is not meeting you & DB, but frankly my dear, you both scared the shit out of me. But if you need meme and the 10 monthly readers of Willy Loman to rise up, we are there :)

LOL. dBO scared the crap outta me at the beginning.

You wanna know something else terrifying about us? We're both Scorpios. I don't have much time for astrology but Scorpio is apparently The Scariest Sign.

Here's the link to ARCC's M312 Action Page.

"Yesterday, I announced DJ!'s intention to quit Progressive Bloggers. Intention, not yet a request to be unplugged"

BS.

Willy, it makes no sense for someone to gripe they are no longer where they don't want to be, unless it's because they were denied the opportunity to slam the door on their own terms, on their way out.

"it's good to know who our friends really are. "

Friends, yes-men, what's the difference? Stifle all discussion of why there shouldn't be a debate in Parliament, and fewer people will understand why Fern's right to be worried if it gets to that point. I'd prefer people, especially progressive people, to feel comfortable to make mistakes so they can be corrected by their peers, rather than by heavy-handed moderators bowing to the whims of scared and angry people.

Hey Saskboy...

I am not sure that they are griping or for that matter whether I or apparently the Beaver group are griping. BUT and this is the point with me, they being DJ, should not of been denied the opportunity to slam the door on their own terms. Instead it was a "You can't blackmail me" you're gone.

As for "I'd prefer people, especially progressive people, to feel comfortable to make mistakes so they can be corrected by their peers" If you are referring to the soap guy, he has posted the same BS twice since all this went down and despite every negative comment intended to I guess correct him, he just keeps digging himself in deeper. After all it is just his opinion.

I agree that we do not need heavy handed moderators but we also do not need thin skinned ones who over react to the whims of their own ego.

Bravo, Willy!

I always knew who would speak truth to power and I have not been disappointed in who I consider to be truly progressive bloggers.

And as an occasional contributor to DJ, I am very proud of their justified stance in protecting women's rights, even if it means causing turmoil for Progressive Bloggers. I also think it's pretty awesome that I am also another scary Scorpion. I had no idea that we were all the same sign.

662

That is the number of Syrian refuges that the Harper government has brought into Canada.

From the Globe and Mail:
However, the government is facing criticism because 2,374 Syrian refugees have so far been settled. Of that number, only 622 - or 26 percent - were assisted by the government. The others were privately sponsored by individuals or non-government. The others were privately sponsored by individuals or non-government organizations. The NDP argues that in addition to private sponsors, the government should immediately accept 10,000 Syrian refugees. Liberal leader Justin Trudeau said the target should be 25,000 government-sponsored refugees, which he estimates would cost Ottawa $100-million.In other words the Harper government that banters around the 10,000 plus refugee number has brought in 622 refugees or about 170 families.

The other 2,352 so called refugees that Harper has allowed to emigrate to Canada consist of wealthy Syrian Christians who paid their own way in, hightailing …

Election close call, Omar, Bob and move over Warren

Wow that was a close one:
With the NDP leading in the polls at the beginning of September, I started to prepare myself, for the very first time in my life, to vote for the NDP. Mulcair looked good enough for me, with some of the best lines about Harper's Government during most of his interviews, except that he would always add the phrase, "just like the liberals" to the end of it and I thought, if I'm one of those Harper hating, Liberal voters that you probably need to vote for you, why the hell are you insulting me with this partisan bullshit.
