I am really getting tired of these people

Image
Until the rest of us get a do over, you know getting our credit lines extended with tax payer dollars or selling some of the worthless purchases we have made over the last four years to the government... Like the $15 Home Depot, DVD player that only lasted a week or the pair of shoes I bought from Wal-mart that fell apart after a month, the cheap things that I foolishly thought were a bargain... Nothing that these top economists from the five major banks say should be considered of any importance. and certainly should not be reported as an expert opinion when it comes to handling the current financial meltdown. From now on the chief economists of the five major banks have to STFU. Gentlemen you have no credibility left with me, none, zero, nada, zilch. There now I feel better.

Happy 68th John

I've had enough of reading things by nuerotic-pyschotic-pig headed politicians all I want is the truth. Give Me Some Truth God How do you Sleep Yer Blues, with Clapton, Richards and one kick ass drummer I get angry when I think of how much we lost. But screw it, celebrate get mad and vote ABC.

Stop using the taser and start shooting them. At least you can remove a bullet.

Another Taser death in Ontario this morning. CBC reports here that an unidentified man died today after being tasered by the OPP this morning. The incident happened mid-morning in Norfolk County, about 130 km southwest of Toronto. Police said they were responding "to a report of an unwanted male person causing a disturbance," and said the man was "combative. The man collapsed at the OPP station and was taken to the hospital where he died. There is no argument for the continued use of tasers. If proponents claim that 150 + deaths in North America is a small percentage, then they are tasering too many people.  It is 150 people that didn't have to die. This is utterly ridiculous.

Alberta’s Legally Blonde Finance Minister to share oil funds with Ontario

Image
As reported here Alberta Finance Minister, Iris Evans “ says Ontario and the federal government receive half the tax from the oilsands ”. Who knew! Hey, this have-not province thing is working out pretty well. Last week it was that crazy Danny from the new NL and now we have this Reese Witherspoon , look-a-like, doll , from Edmonton stepping right up there, to help us too. I take back every bad thing I’ve ever said about Alberta.  Remember how I used to compare my three years, living in Edmonton, to doing time in a gulag. I won’t say that anymore.  Remember how I used to say, women in Edmonton were easy to meet, because they all had their names sewn on the sleeves of their blue ski jackets. I won't say that anymore. Remember when.. well you know what I mean. No wonder those Albertans are Steve’s chosen people. And they think he is doing a heck of a job too . Hey Iris, I guess sarcasm doesn't work for either one of us. Welcome to Toronto, babe.

Microsoft disappoints Wall Street

SEATTLE — Microsoft Corp. said Thursday its fiscal third-quarter profit fell 11 per cent from a year earlier, when the software maker reported more than $1-billion (U.S.) in deferred revenue tied to delays in the launch of the Windows Vista operating system. So what's new, they have been disappointing technology users for years.

Conservative Scandal of the Week

Image
Our editorial board here at JAWL has decided that we are starting to sound a little bit too liberal with so many rants about the Steve and his party. So we have instituted this new feature in an effort to sound less partisan. Introducing The Neocon Scandal of the week. Although there were a few good offerings from Steve this week the inaugural winner is the neocon reaction to the raid on the Conservative headquarters by the RCMP. A closer look at the 'in and out' scheme The Conservatives are under investigation for an "in and out" scheme, under which the party allegedly funnelled money through the local election campaigns of individual Tory candidates so they could spend more on their national campaign. In the 2005-06 election campaign, the Conservatives' national headquarters transferred money to 67 local candidates - who immediately transferred it back as "payment" for campaign advertising. Of course the neocons claim that this was all legal and that t...

Leave Brian Mulroney alone

In fact do more than that wipe him from our collective memories. He was unceremoniously driven from office and should be left in solitude, to deal with his impending end of life anxieties. Just as Benedict Arnold quietly lived out his life in England, Mulroney should be allowed to live out his time, anonymously in his chosen homeland. I remember Canada before Mulroney and I remember why he was driven out office. It wasn't just the rumors of corruption running rampant throughout his government that forced him out. It wasn't just the formation of the Bloc and its revitalized separatist movement that forced him out. It wasn't just his arrogance of demanding 100% approval from all provincial legislatures for the Meech Lake Accord. And it wasn't even the GST (It had to be created as a convenient replacement for the Manufacturers Tax that was impeding Free Trade). For me it was just the Free Trade Agreement itself and the fact that he sold our country to the US corporations. ...

1,000 The Meeting

Image
Reading all the hype about Harper's visit to Romania for the NATO meetings, you would think the balance of the free world was depending upon Canada getting a 1,000 troops. Will Canada get them, won't we get them.  Harper and Bernier are optimistic one day, but so much the next day and often of opposing opinion. There were stories from Canadian Press, Reuters, Globe, CTV, CBC and of course a plethora of positive positioning from the Canwest media. Here's a few examples prior to, during and following the meeting:   PM appears to dampen NATO meeting expectations  from Canadian Press on Saturday Bernier optimistic NATO will provide more troops from CTV on Monday PM confident of securing key demands at NATO summit  from the Globe today Tories downplay hopes for troop pledges at NATO summit from CBC today France may send 'few hundred' troops to Afghanistan  from Reuters today The Post had this article  about Nato agreeing with Canada and taking the Canadian lead, p...

They can fume in the dark as far as I'm concerned.

Isn't this special. "Sharply rising fuel prices angered motorists and truckers in Edmonton and northern Alberta" according the article here. Maybe Canada, as one of the largest oil producers in the world, needs a new Venezuelan type oil policy that doesn't force us to charge the same price nationally as we do for exports to the other countries. A National Energy Policy perhaps.

Is Dion up for the game?

A lot of my favorite progressive sites are so pissed at the liberals for the ongoing acquiescence to the harpies that they appear ready to throw the baby out with the bath water and go to a general election. The tipping point was the passing of bill C-484, "the piece of dishonest, incremental legislation intended to criminalize abortion" as well defined by the Galloping Beaver here .  And they have a right to be pissed. This back door, private member, evangelical based, piece of crap was not tied to a confidence vote and Dion along with other shadow cabinet members went AWOL. But wait, "the Liberal leader never votes on private member bills" so I was told by my local MP. "It is a long standing rule within the party" Well fuck that and wake up a smell the roses Dion. Harper is the devil (as in a mischievously clever or self willed person) and he isn't playing by the old rules. Don't tell me that you are following rules established by Trudeau, Chrét...
