Here is an idea Paladiea

Sometimes it is better to let sleeping dogs lie, let the storm pass, so to speak, you know STFU, because your explanatory post about why the Progressive Bloggers Administrators should not be used to censure a misogynist or as you described the individual in question, a well intentioned ignoramus, somehow does not ring true to the events that have been previously described. I get it, you cannot become the thought police and one of the big deals around these parts is that any asshole can get up on their Soap Box and prattle on and on and on Hey their traffic’s going up and they have the right to listen to their own voice over and over and over again and no matter how many times they post these misogynistic like statements, we all know that it is due to their ignorance and not because they are a misogynist (if I read your post correctly). However what your post does not explain is why did Progressive Bloggers abruptly remove Dammit Janet from the blog roll, without allowing them to leave with the dignity they deserve. Talk about thought police, apparently just stating that you are planning to leave is enough to get you booted around these parts. Sorry Paladiea it is too late to take the high road with this debacle.

Thanks for this, Willy.

In a way, I'm glad this happened now. As we gear up for the battle against Woodworth's Wank, which is the first step in recriminalizing abortion in Canada, it's good to know who our friends really are.

Like you.

Fern, there are few things I regret as a so-called blogger and one of them is not meeting you & DB, but frankly my dear, you both scared the shit out of me. But if you need meme and the 10 monthly readers of Willy Loman to rise up, we are there :)

LOL. dBO scared the crap outta me at the beginning.

You wanna know something else terrifying about us? We're both Scorpios. I don't have much time for astrology but Scorpio is apparently The Scariest Sign.

Here's the link to ARCC's M312 Action Page.

"Yesterday, I announced DJ!'s intention to quit Progressive Bloggers. Intention, not yet a request to be unplugged"

Willy, it makes no sense for someone to gripe they are no longer where they don't want to be, unless it's because they were denied the opportunity to slam the door on their own terms, on their way out.

"it's good to know who our friends really are. "

Friends, yes-men, what's the difference? Stifle all discussion of why there shouldn't be a debate in Parliament, and fewer people will understand why Fern's right to be worried if it gets to that point. I'd prefer people, especially progressive people, to feel comfortable to make mistakes so they can be corrected by their peers, rather than by heavy-handed moderators bowing to the whims of scared and angry people.

Hey Saskboy...

I am not sure that they are griping or for that matter whether I or apparently the Beaver group are griping. BUT and this is the point with me, they being DJ, should not of been denied the opportunity to slam the door on their own terms. Instead it was a "You can't blackmail me" you're gone.

As for "I'd prefer people, especially progressive people, to feel comfortable to make mistakes so they can be corrected by their peers" If you are referring to the soap guy, he has posted the same BS twice since all this went down and despite every negative comment intended to I guess correct him, he just keeps digging himself in deeper. After all it is just his opinion.

I agree that we do not need heavy handed moderators but we also do not need thin skinned ones who over react to the whims of their own ego.

Bravo, Willy!

I always knew who would speak truth to power and I have not been disappointed in who I consider to be truly progressive bloggers.

And as an occasional contributor to DJ, I am very proud of their justified stance in protecting women's rights, even if it means causing turmoil for Progressive Bloggers. I also think it's pretty awesome that I am also another scary Scorpion. I had no idea that we were all the same sign.

PizzaGate explained

Never heard Bernie speak until after the US election, saw the debates and thought Hillary cleaned Trump's clock. Knew Trump was a prick and couldn't understand how any sane person would vote for him, yet for some reason, I called myself a Bernie guy, didn't trust Hillary and had no idea why.

But, at least I didn't take my gun to a pizza joint to break up a pedophilia ring in the basement and end up getting four years in prison, like Ed Welch from North Carolina.

RollingStone in partnership with the Investigative Fund and the Centre for Investigative Reporting along with five other journalists tracked down the origins and methodologies used to propagate the most successful fake news story of the past election,

A good twenty minute read here.

Boys are not allowed to hit girls

Don't do much anymore except make breakfast for one of my grandkids, a seven year old boy, walking him to school, picking him up and then having philosophical conversations about his day. Living in the basement of my daughter's house, I really try, to not interfere with their parenting, but what the hell, right now he spends as much time with me during the week, than he does with them.

The other day my daughter who came home early and ended up eavesdropping on our conversation about when to fight and when to walk away. Apparently it was one of those days in the school yard.

"Look, it is really simple" I started, "there are only two rules about fighting. The first rule is, you don't start the fight, but if a boy hits you, hit him back, as hard and as fast as you can and don't stop until he runs away." He liked that part and demonstated how he would punch. "In other other words," I continued "you will only be in trouble if you started the …

Perils of shopping online

Thought I'd try that new millennial thing this year. You know that online shopping thing using your computer, that the kids are all into today.  Saved a ton of time, however there were a few drawbacks.  On boxing Day I had to spend a half an hour with my eleven year old granddaughter explaining how Trump called Clinton nasty in the second debate and this girl in Kentucky wrote a slam poem about it and then Ashley Judd an old actress heard it and performed it at the women's march following Trump's inauguration and that the word Nasty on the black tank top I bought her from the Young Turks web store was actually a positive thing, in fact a shield for women to protect themselves from the assholes of the world.  Next year I'll try not to do my online shopping at three in the morning after a joint and couple single malts. Other than that it's been a pretty good Christmas season. Hope you are having a good time too.
