In November, 506,320 Canadians received regular employment insurance (EI) benefits. The total number of claims increased 58,900 from October to November before seasonal adjustments. The year to year increase was only 57,400 from November 2007 to November 2008. We seem to be picking up some volume here.
Probably not that much celebration, amongst these Canadians over yesterdays budget, but at least the ones that went on the dole at the end of November are now covered through Halloween.
